What are Pipe clamps?
Pipe clamps are clamps used to secure pipes in place while allowing for movement and expansion. They are commonly used in plumbing and electrical systems. Also known as pipe clips or saddle clamps, they typically consist of two half-circle cuffs that wrap around the pipe and are bolted together. The clamp is then fastened to a wall or surface.
Common Applications of Clamps
Pipe clamps are common tools used in various applications across different industries. Here are some of the most common uses of clamps:
- Supporting Pipes: Keep pipes stable and properly aligned by securing them to walls, ceilings, or other structures.
- Assembly and Glueing: Hold pieces in place while glue dries or during assembly for precise alignment.
- Weight Distribution: Help evenly distribute the weight of piping systems.
- Preventing Damage: Protect pipes from corrosion, abrasion, and thermal expansion.
- Shock Absorption: Dampen vibrations and absorb shocks in the system.
Types of Clamps
There are two pipe clamp types and clips available at LIPKA for pipes of varying diameters and materials:
- Connection Clamps: Used to securely join or fasten two or more components together. Common in plumbing, electrical, and mechanical applications.
- U-Clamps: U-shaped fasteners used to secure pipes or tubes to supports. The threaded ends of the U-clamp allow it to be fastened with nuts, providing a secure hold.
